Caching is fun, but don't get too fooled into thinking it's all about wandering around in the woods with high tech gadgetry. GPS will only get you to within 5-30 feet of your target. A good 2/3rds of the work is being exceptionally clever and figuring out where something might be hidden.We were exceptionally bad at it at first, but started to get the hang of it after 20 caches or so. Best to go with someone else or borrow equipment before taking the plunge. If you do it's addicting and a lot of fun.
