if i understand your point correctly, wouldn't you end up having, say 5 copies of openssl libraries on your system after installing dovecot, ssh, apache, joe's small app, etc? then what happens if there is a security issue with ssl? you can't just patch the system library because you have all these other applications using their own ones. it would be a security and administrative nightmare.
Same boat, I also realized I'm kind of old. Some of those events 2000-2004 made me realize how long ago high school was. Damn.

He needs to get his desk back. Thats whats wrong with the show. Jimmy kimmel on Adam Corollas podacast said that Leno lost about 2million viewers, and none of the other hosts got significant bump from it. the viewers just disappeared.
