Gas is cheap in NJ because we have a lot of refineries. The downside is we smell like a foot.

I really don't want to hijack this thread and make it about religion. But I have to say Carl Sagan's explanations of the universe are one of the principle reasons I am not religious. I say this from a place of love, not anger or some of the atheistic furor often found on digg. When you watch Cosmos or read his books, you know the universe is much much bigger than our narrow view here on this planet earth. It's so majestic, so enormous that it makes religion seem petty and small. As Carl Sagan did, I look forward to a time when humanity is united in its exploration of this vast unknown, and beyond the conflicts (religious or not) and suffering commonplace today. Happy Carl Sagan Day.?
Dude, ***** like that is way too expensive if you're on a tight budget (i.e. student). I've got rice, potatoes, spaghetti, ramen noodles, popcorn, oatmeal, legumes (absolutely essential for protein) and baking supplies (cookies, pancakes are indulgences). That's it. I spend about 1.40$ each day on food, but have a very healthy vegetarian diet. The availability of healthy alternatives is far from the major problem. |

Major off-world colonization is defiantly within the realm of possibility, but defiantly not with our current technology, or even in the foreseeable future. We may get a small scientific colony of less than 100 people or so setup in the near future, but they would be dependent on supplies from earth, and it wouldn't be the random public up there, but scientists probably on a rotating schedule similar to how ISS is now, just on a larger scale. |
