Yeah, there's a reason why it's often referred to as "The Evil Alliance". A friend of mine who worked at Origin when EA bought them has a t-shirt that has the old EA logo done as Borg spaceships, and underneath it says, "You Will Be Assimilated".
Why name anything with the root word "bad?"

FTA: "No one quite knows where the world will end up in this new roundelay of policy decisions and feedback loops. What is clear is that there needs to be some measure of coordination among central bankers and policymakers as they exit stimulus measures and tighten monetary policy. It is fortunate that the planet now has forums such as the G-20 and reinvigorated multilateral institutions like the IMF to help in this regard."Is anyone else concerned that continued integration and coordination of central bankers will create a global house of cards and undermine national sovereignties??
It's true. Jesus would likely get called a socialist and a member of the left wing conspiracy. And then they'd kill him, again. |

All the UK regional police force websites outsource their hosting to third party companies, usually with a CMS provided so the web administrator can update it from the force HQ. I did some work on one, they had a single Webmaster with another lady who chipped in an afternoon here and there, plus other access was granted to the press office for the news section, HR for job postings, and other little things like someone on the helicopter crew allowed to update this small page which was sort of a blog for air support call outs. The only forces which don't necessarily outsource it are the Met, ones in Scotland and the Garda (but they probably all do).Understanding this all I can suggest is that Durham got targeted because some opportunist found a vulnerability in the system of the hosting company and then looked at a list of all the sites they host and found the most exciting one to damage. The revenge motive is probably a load of bollocks, most of the sites have little more than niceties, contact details, timetables, and forms. The actual police intranet is on a completely different system and completely disconnected from the grid

I fix computers for a living and I can tell you that I see 5-10 rigs cross my desk every week running AVG and Avira absolutely RIDDLED with infections. Considering the massive performance hit of either of 'em I certainly can't recommend them. What do I use to clean up all the crap they miss? Malwarebytes and SuperAntispyware. The two of those free on-demand scanners clean most current infections. If they miss something, I hit 'em with Eset. This list is highly suspect. |
